Position Overview: We are looking to fill a part-time summer job and are seeking someone who is passionate about the arts and enriching the community with engaging and meaningful events. In this role, you will have the opportunity to be part of the Arts and Events team, assisting with maintenance of Public Art in Canmore and supporting cultural initiatives and events including Canada Day and events during National Indigenous People’s Month in June 2024. The Arts and Events team provides exciting opportunities to gain valuable insight into community programs and events in a municipal environment. Community engagement data collection, entry and analysis, and event coordination are core responsibilities for the successful candidate, with some public art maintenance.

 

Ability to kneel, bend, and lift up to 30lbs. Ability to stand for long periods of time, up to 5 hours (long events, such as Canada day).

 

Hours: 28 hours/week. Monday to Friday. Some evenings, weekends, and holidays are required.

Contract: May 27 to September 6, 2024 (flexible).

The ability to engage with members of the public, asking the right questions, learning about the community perspective, and building relationships is essential for the success of this role. You must approach conflict and concerns with positive assumptions, curiosity, and open mindedness. At least 1 year of post-secondary school or 3 years of experience in community engagement or arts management is required. Having experience in public speaking or engagement, events coordination or management, and data collection or entry is an asset.
