Position Overview:  As a member of the Finance Services Team, the Tax & Utility Customer Service Representative will support the administration of municipal utilities and property taxes, as well as provide assistance and coverage to the Civic Centre reception functions. This position works closely with the Tax and Utility Assistant and the Property Tax Officer. In this role, you may also be trained and asked to serve as a clerk for the Assessment Review Board. As part of this role, you will build on your customer service and organization skills.  Primarily an administrative staff member, you will also provide front-line service to customers by phone, email and in person.  The successful candidate will require strong computer skills, be well organized, and be an effective communicator. The duties of this role include responding to inquiries, assisting customers with forms and documentation, database entry, processing payments and title changes, monthly reporting, and other administrative support required for the success of the tax and utility functions.

Qualifications: 

  • While related post-secondary education would be considered an asset, you must have obtained a minimum of a high school diploma.
  • Prior experience with customer service along with superb organizational and communication skills, combined with an astute attention to detail will help you to be successful in this role!
  • You will have strong computer competency and demonstrate a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook), intermediate to advanced knowledge in Excel and database entry expertise.

Work Schedule: This position requires a 35-hour work week commitment, working from Monday – Friday during regular business hours from the Civic Centre location.
